Negotiating with Venues

Pitch, prove and agree the details.

Research before you pitch

Find out when they have music, who comes in and whether solo acoustic sets fit. Mention one specific night or detail.

Describe the evening before naming the fee

Say what you play and how it suits their audience. Discuss money before agreeing to the booking, once the offer is clear.

Bring proof

Send one short performance clip. A phone recording at home is fine. If you have no previous venues to name, offer a 20-song sample set and describe the length of your sets.

Sample set

“Three 45-minute sets of familiar acoustic covers” tells a booker more than “I can play anything.” Use the format you can actually deliver.
